1. About These Terms

These Terms govern the provision of veterinary services by Nicholson Veterinary Centre on a Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) basis.
1.2
By booking, requesting, or receiving PAYG services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1.3
These Terms apply only to PAYG services.
Our Lifetime Care Plans are governed by separate terms.
2. Care Model and Service Definition
2.1
We operate two distinct service models:
- PAYG Services: one-off, ad hoc consultations, treatments, or procedures
- Lifetime Care Plans: structured, preventative healthcare delivered under a separate agreement
2.2
PAYG services are episodic and transactional in nature.
2.3
PAYG services do not include:
- Preventative healthcare planning
- Ongoing monitoring
- Structured continuity of care
2.4
Each PAYG interaction forms a separate contract.
3. Scope of PAYG Services
3.1 PAYG services are suitable for:
- Occasional or non-registered clients
- One-off consultations or treatments
- Diagnostic procedures
- Clients referred from other practices
3.2
PAYG services are not designed to replace ongoing veterinary care.
3.3
Responsibility for ongoing care remains with you and, where applicable, your primary veterinary practice.
4. Relationship to Lifetime Care Plans
4.1
Lifetime Care Plans provide a different level of service, including:
- Preventative care
- Ongoing monitoring
- Continuity of care
- Structured clinical oversight
4.2
PAYG services:
- Are priced separately
- Do not include these benefits
- Do not provide access to plan features
5. Formation of Contract
5.1
A contract is formed each time you:
- Book an appointment
- Present your pet for treatment
- Authorise a procedure or service
5.2
Each contract applies only to the specific services agreed at that time.
6. Fees and Payment
6.1
All PAYG services are charged according to our current price list.
6.2
Payment is due:
- At the time of consultation
- On completion of treatment
- Or in advance where required
6.3
We may require:
- Deposits
- Prepayment
and may refuse or delay services if payment is not made.
6.4
If you use insurance or third-party payment providers, you remain responsible for all fees.
7. Estimates and Treatment Authorisation
7.1
Estimates are indicative only and may change.
7.2
Veterinary treatment may vary based on clinical findings.
7.3
By proceeding, you authorise us to carry out clinically appropriate investigations and treatment.
8. Appointments, Cancellations and Non-Attendance
8.1
Appointments may require a deposit.
8.2
You may cancel or rearrange with at least 24 hours’ notice.
8.3
We may charge:
- A cancellation fee
- The full consultation fee
if insufficient notice is given or the appointment is missed.
8.4
Repeated missed appointments may result in:
- Refusal of future bookings
- Requirement for prepayment
9. Availability and Access
9.1
PAYG services are subject to availability.
9.2
We prioritise care based on:
- Clinical urgency
- Operational capacity
9.3
We do not guarantee:
- Immediate appointments
- Continuity of clinician
- Priority access
10. Referral Cases
10.1
Where services are provided following referral:
- We act as a treating or consulting provider
10.2
Ongoing care remains with the referring practice unless otherwise agreed.
11. Clinical Responsibility
11.1
We will provide services with reasonable care and skill in accordance with professional standards.
11.2
Care under PAYG is limited to the services agreed.
11.3
Ongoing monitoring is not included unless specifically arranged.
11.4
You are responsible for:
- Monitoring your pet after treatment
- Seeking further veterinary care where needed
12. Medicines and Prescriptions
12.1
Medications are prescribed in accordance with veterinary regulations.
12.2
Prescriptions may be issued:
- Following appropriate clinical assessment
- Subject to applicable fees
13. Insurance
13.1
You remain responsible for all fees regardless of insurance.
13.2
Reimbursement is between you and your insurer.
13.3
We may assist with claim documentation but are not responsible for claim outcomes.
14. Liability
14.1
Nothing in these Terms limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
14.2
We are not liable for:
- Indirect or consequential losses
- Issues arising from incomplete or inaccurate information
15. Data Protection
15.1

Clinical records remain our property but may be shared appropriately for ongoing care.
16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time.

17. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
18. Contractual Precedence
18.1
Nicholson Veterinary Centre operates multiple service models, including Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) Services and Lifetime Care Plans, each governed by separate contractual terms.
18.2
Where a client receives or purchases both PAYG Services and Lifetime Care Plan services:
(a) The Lifetime Care Plan Terms and Conditions shall apply to and take precedence in relation to all services provided under a Plan
(b) These PAYG Terms and Conditions shall apply solely to PAYG Services and any services provided outside the scope of a Plan
18.3
These PAYG Terms do not amend, replace, or override the Lifetime Care Plan Terms unless expressly agreed in writing.
18.4
In the event of any conflict between the Lifetime Care Plan Terms and these PAYG Terms in relation to services provided under a Plan, the Lifetime Care Plan Terms shall prevail.
18.5
In the event of any conflict relating to PAYG Services or services provided outside of a Plan, these PAYG Terms shall prevail.
